Dear Prospective Applicant:

Welcome to the Peter A. Allard School of Law, University of British Columbia admission process. Please see: http://www.allard.ubc.ca/sites/www.allard.ubc.ca/files/ubc-allardlawjdbrochurefinallow.pdf for all up to date admission requirements. Read through this document prior to beginning your on-line application. If you have any questions that are not answered, please see our FAQ. If you still have questions after reading both documents, please do not hesitate to contact us at 604-822-6303 or admissions@allard.ubc.ca.

Please note that during peak times there can be a slight delay in email responses. We do try to respond as quickly as possible and ask for your patience and understanding.

ALL first year law applications and personal statements MUST be received by our December 1st deadline. Supporting documentation must be received by January 31st. The February writing of the LSAT is the last sitting that we will accept for this application cycle; however, we strongly encourage applicants to take the LSAT prior to the February test date. An applicant who wishes to rely on the February LSAT score may diminish his/her chance of gaining admission due to the delayed review of his/her file and the possibility that there may no longer be positions available in the upcoming entry class. Applications from candidates who write the February LSAT will not be considered complete and will not be reviewed until all elements, including the February LSAT score, are received. After the complete file is reviewed, if it is considered competitive with other applicants for a place in the upcoming entry class and if a position is still available, the applicant may either be admitted or placed on a wait list.

The deadline for upper level applicants (Transfer, Letter of Permission, Advanced Standing) is April 30th, except for law transcripts, which are due as soon as final grades have been released (first week of June at the latest) as upper-level decisions are typically made by the end of June.

We look forward to reviewing your application and wish you the best of luck.

Sincerely,

Elaine Borthwick
Director, J.D. Admissions
